Massive Mel Lewis interview

While I'm on light posting due to being really busy, here's more great stuff from Jon McCaslin at Four on the Floor- an extended interview with Mel Lewis from the Percussive Arts Society oral history project. Lewis and Loren Schoenberg discuss the history of the drums in jazz from Baby Dodds to Elvin Jones. Jon says "listening to these interviews with Mel is a MUST for any serious student of the music and of Jazz drumming", and I believe him. There are 32 individual podcasts, each of which appear to be 30+ minutes long, which is an incredible amount of learning.

Listen to the interviews.
